Ever wake up and immediately feel lost? What am I doing today, why is it important, why should I care, who will notice if I don’t show up?
Everyone does. Yes, that’s right. Everyone does.
Putting one foot in front of the other some days takes tremendous effort. Your feet feel like they are stuck in quick sand and you only have minutes to figure out how to survive the predicament.
This is not a feeling that goes away with maturity, experience or the title you have on the org chart. Although it is not a feeling that can be prevented, it is a feeling that can be overcome. The lost feeling can be dispelled by going back to your personal “road map.” The road map you create when developing your personal and professional plan. It includes a set of goals and tasks that you have developed for personal growth and achievement.
The list of goals is not enough, however. You have to repeatedly visit this plan and become inspired by it, renewed by it. Becoming inspired again in your personal journey and making course corrections if necessary can dispel the fog.
So, when you wake up and feel that fog surrounding you, remind yourself this is your story and you are its writer. Make it a great one.
